Head Chef (m/f)
📍Location: Hotel Ebreaze - Benghazi, Libya
Position description:
- The Head Chef is responsible for managing the kitchen in a restaurant, hotel, or other hospitality establishment. They oversee the entire food preparation process, ensure high-quality dishes, as well as the efficient functioning of the kitchen staff. The Head Chef creates menus, supervises purchasing and inventory control, and ensures compliance with hygiene standards and regulations. They must also be able to handle stress and work under pressure while maintaining creativity and innovation in meal preparation
Key responsibilities:
- Menu planning and creation: Designing and developing menus according to seasonal ingredients, guest preferences, and culinary trends
- Supervising kitchen staff: Leading a team of chefs, kitchen assistants, and waiters, assigning tasks and training employees
- Food preparation: Actively participating in the preparation of complex dishes and setting an example for the kitchen staff
- Quality control: Ensuring consistent quality of all dishes, including taste, presentation, and compliance with standards
- Inventory and cost management: Ordering ingredients, monitoring stock, cost control, and optimizing processes to reduce waste
- Compliance with hygiene and safety regulations: Ensuring that all kitchen processes and staff comply with sanitation standards, HACCP guidelines, and legal requirements
- Innovation and service improvement: Keeping up with contemporary culinary trends and introducing new techniques and recipes to the restaurant's offerings
- Problem-solving: Ability to quickly address any issues in the kitchen operation, such as delays, ingredient shortages, or errors in meal preparation
Qualifications:
- Higher/secondary education in culinary arts or a related field
- Experience in a Head Chef position (minimum 3-5 years)
- Knowledge of different cuisines and culinary techniques
- People management skills and team work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Creativity, passion for cooking, and an innovative approach to dish creation
- Excellent knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards
Working conditions:
